A relatively new and not the most popular class of combat vessels in World of Warships are submarines, which became available in update 0.11.9.
The stealthiness of submarines appeals to players who prefer to stealthily sneak up on the enemy, inflict devastating damage, and hide from the sonars of other enemies at depth.

Don't forget to redeem World of Warships codes to get bonuses in the game. They come in two types: invite codes for new players and bonus codes for veterans. If you have any difficulties, use the instructions about registration with bonuses in World of Warships.
But if you’re in the mood for something different, we also have World of Tanks codes.
Features of Submarines
Submarines are expected to stand out among other combat vessels and have a peculiar strategy and tactics of combat, as well as features of searching for enemies, targeting, and attacking.
Submarine Navigation Modes
Similar to their real-life prototypes, submarines in WoWs can move in three different modes:
- Submarine:
- designed to move stealthily and search for the location of enemies;
- detection by other submarines is possible with the “Underwater Search” equipment;
- surface vessels can be detected within a radius of up to 2 km with “Hydroacoustic Search”;
- air reserve is consumed;
- seizure of anchor points is not possible.
- Periscope Depth:
- can be traveled at maximum speed, but visibility is increased;
- enemy detection is possible at sight distance from the aircraft;
- the capture of strongholds is not available;
- impossible to detect using “Search radar”;
- “Radio direction finding” skill shows the direction of the submarine if it is closer than other ships;
- air is consumed.
- Surface:
- greatest vulnerability and visibility to enemies;
- detection of enemies within visual range;
- can travel at top speed;
- the capture of strongholds is available;
- air reserves are replenished;
- you can use guns mounted on the deck.
The “C” and “F” keys are used to switch between modes – for diving and surfacing respectively.
Weapons and Projectiles
The main armament of the submarines is torpedo tubes, which use two types of torpedoes:
- Acoustic (homing), which requires hitting the enemy with sonar pulses, by which the exact location of the submarine can be determined. Most effective against lightly armored and moving targets such as destroyers and light cruisers.
- Alternative (standard), launched by analogy with standard ship torpedoes on a straight trajectory. The ammunition is characterized by increased damage and is effective against armored opponents – heavy cruisers and battleships.
Some submarines have main caliber guns on the deck, which can be used to fire at enemies in the surface position, similar to standard ship weapons.
Combat Tactics
The basis of submarine combat is stealthy movement and approach to the enemy, followed by surfacing to periscope depth and executing a torpedo attack. After torpedoing, regardless of the result, it is necessary to submerge, change position, and repeat the attack if necessary.
The main threat to submarines is from destroyers equipped with depth charges.
