The banning system is used in War Thunder to maintain fair play and compliance with the rules of behavior. If a player violates the terms of the user agreement, such as using cheats or aggressive behavior, his account may be temporarily or permanently banned.

What are Ban
The list of punishments in the game comes from the user agreement. Gaijin Entertainment is not too different from hundreds of other developers regarding rules of behavior on their servers. Most of the rules are listed under “ANNEX #1. GAME RULES.” Nevertheless, let’s briefly go over the main points:
- Unacceptable nicknames, clan names, and logos.
- Targeted fire on allies, blocking allied vehicles, AFK.
- Use cheats, bugs, bots, exploits, and other cheating methods.
- Spamming, insults, violating moral and ethical norms, and inciting hatred in chat.
- Use symbols of political organizations, except politically neutral organizations, in the game.
- Abuse of the complaint system.
- Transactions made outside the game market for real money, transferring the account to third parties.
Ban for the Nickname in War Thunder
Unacceptable nickname, clan name, or logo. This list includes specific wording and statements:
- obscene and offensive,
- sexual innuendo,
- hate speech,
- distorting information,
- provocative,
- degrading to human dignity,
- calling for the violent overthrow of the government,
- consisting of trademarks,
- propaganda,
- racially or nationally offensive,
- deemed offensive by the administration,
- violating the rules of the game or terms of service.
It should be understood that under such a description can fall a wide range of almost any acute social or political jokes, so such nicknames always entail risks.
Developers always reserve the right of final judgment, so if they do not like the player’s “entertaining” joke, wait for a ban. Yes, some questionable nicknames are ignored until the first complaint to the moderators. Nicknames that violate local laws may also be banned.
If an unacceptable nickname or clan name is found, the game administration may rename the account or clan or impose an additional punishment. The duration of punishment depends on the number and severity of violations – from a few days to permanent blocking of the account. In case of forced nickname change – change your nickname quickly to avoid possible problems.
Ban for Unacceptable Behavior in the Chat
The list of violations in the chat is the same as the list above (for nicknames and clans). Here, the automatic system often acts on player complaints, sometimes catching certain expressions in chat. Nevertheless, toxic players sooner or later accumulate a certain number of complaints, which follows:
- chat lockout,
- temporary account lockout,
- permanent account lockout.
The severity of the punishment depends on the number of complaints, previous offenses, and the administration’s opinion on whether the case should be handled manually.
Ban for Unsportsmanlike Behavior
Fans of Friendly Fire and Timkills receive a ban of 1 to 7 days. This is monitored by an automated system, which is additionally influenced by player complaints. Gamemasters consider disputable cases, but removing the account lock for unsportsmanlike behavior is difficult before the deadline.
Locking a player’s tanks in a corner, deliberately pushing them off bridges, and other types of trolling are all unsportsmanlike behaviors.
The section includes bots and mods for bright textures and penetration zones. These violations will already be followed by a ban forever.
This can also include other modification of game files, attempting to break into the servers and using cheats, which are mentioned below.
Ban for War Thunder Cheats
Gaining an advantage in a non-game way is the final verdict for any account. Using the software is a one-way trip; the player will be permanently banned at the last stop. Such cases are rarely considered in support. Supportdom gets acquittals. The only exception is when a player is caught in a wave of erroneous bans.
Ban for Selling and Buying an Account.
Selling accounts has always been a “big no” in online gaming. When any sign of a transaction is detected, a ban follows – complaints, strange mail, and IP changes, even a request for account recovery from a dishonest seller can end sadly. Nevertheless, transactions are made, and sometimes successfully. It all depends on how actively developers are fighting the gray market of accounts.
How to Remove a Ban in War Thunder
With the question of removing the ban, you can contact the following employees:
But you should not rejoice prematurely.
Here’s a list of violations for which it is almost impossible to unblock an account:
- use of cheats,
- multiple nickname bans,
- frequent unacceptable behavior, friendly fire, and other cumulative various violations.
Remember that polite and appropriate communication with the forums and support staff will increase your chances of success. Study the instructions for proper inquiries to gamemasters. If you have any unclear questions, you can discuss them on Sabreddit, but remember that you should not publish personal information or your account details there.
Employees of any company are highly reluctant to remove the ban on persistent violators. Therefore, the best way to remove a ban is not to get banned or break the rules.
If the ban were received undeservedly, in some cases, it would have helped to raise noise in gaming publications and other external pressure on the company, but this is not a panacea and is more suitable for bloggers, not ordinary players.
If your account has been hacked and sold – contact support and fight to the end. There are many cases when such accounts were returned to their rightful owners.
