How to Play Workshop Maps in Counter-Strike 2 | Best Workshop Maps

In addition to the seven main arenas designed for local competitions and determining the global ranking in Premier mode, Counter-Strike 2 has maps for skill training in various modes.

At the moment, the total number of maps created for training duels in CS2 and available for download in the Steam Workshop is 1840.

How to Open a Workshop in CS2

To access the Steam Workshop in your browser, follow this link. Alternatively, select a game from your library on your PC app and click the “Workshop” tab. To find maps, tap “Browse”.

How to Launch a Map from the Workshop in CS2

Steam Workshop does not allow you to run maps but provides the ability to download them. To do so:

• select the location you want to play in and click on it;
• click the “Subscribe” button on the map page, log in to your Steam account or create one;

• after that, you will be able to download the configuration file of the selected arena.

Here’s how to launch and access the maps from the workshop to make them available for play:

1. Unpack the archive and transfer the resolution file (.vpk) to the directory with the maps, which can be reached by opening the directories sequentially:

• this computer;
• c drive;
• Program Files(x86);
• Steam;
• steamapps;
• common;
• Counter-Strike Global Offensive;
• game;
• csgo;
• maps.

Perform the following steps:

• right-click on the CS2 shortcut and select “Properties” from the pop-up menu;
• open the “Basic” tab and enter “-insecure” in the specified line.

These manipulations allow you to run custom maps, but disable the standard game modes, which can be restored by deleting “-insecure“.

To launch the installed map:

1. Activate the developer console to do this:

• go to the game settings by pressing the icons (1), (2) and (3) in sequence;
• select “Yes” (4) next to “Activate Developer Console”.

2. Open the Developer Console by pressing the “~” key (default value), in which enter:

• “sv_cheats 1” – to activate cheats (if not entered, the cheats will not work);
• “map_[location name]” – to go to the downloaded map (when typing the command in the drop-down menu, you will be offered possible options).

Similarly, you can download, install and run any map from the Steam Workshop and/or from a third-party resource.

Is it Possible to Run a Map from CS:GO in Counter-Strike 2

Running map files from CS:GO in CS2 is not possible, but there are a lot of adapted to the new engine location configuration files that fully replicate them.
