Mozdok

A balanced map and hilly terrain. Height differences expand the allowable pool of ground vehicles. Uplands provide cover and help set up ambushes and bypass flanks.

Mozdok (Ground Forces) War Thunder

High-speed Tank destroyers occupy the left part of the location – meet players on the hills, point. On the right, there is a positional struggle, shelling revival points. Both teams are trying to occupy the center.

The map is open, and aviation is free to bomb ground vehicles. However, the hilly terrain prevents helicopters from using guided weapons, and flights behind enemy lines are interrupted by Anti-aircraft vehicles sheltered by the terrain.

Abandoned Factory

Abandoned Factory War Thunder

Open spaces, tangled passages of factory buildings, broken walls, piles of debris hiding ambushes of enemy vehicles. Passages are shot from several directions; the priority will be slow, careful mopping up and cutting corners. From above is a long detour, favorable positions in buildings. There is a railroad, hangars, and long straight lines from below. It is essential to take the hangars first – the position is held by one tank. Both teams try to occupy the central part, but finding a position to fire on the attackers is better.

It is difficult for aviation – factory buildings are in the way. Bomb the central point, clear the flanks.

Cargo Port

Cargo Port War Thunder

A map of the late XX century shows spacious, long streets, massive buildings, cargo containers, tanks, and pipes. Recommended tactics include controlling the roads, sniper positions, warehouses, and checking shelters. Open space is deadly; enemy tanks ambush it, so turn off engines. Careful mopping up, phased movement, and checking the streets will help.

Aviation is advantageous for climbing higher, considering narrow streets in advance, and reacting to the opening of return fire in time. High speed and low altitudes make it challenging to find the target.

Eastern Europe

Eastern Europe War Thunder

This is a classic map. The central city is divided by a river, and the neighborhoods are shot through. Driving quickly through the riverside streets is impossible—the tank is hit by crossfire. Teams need control of the opposite bank—point of interest firing positions. Urban combat dictates the need to protect bridges. Having captured the upper bank, check the hills and long-range detours.

Carefully clear city blocks – the enemy is hidden by buildings. The first minutes of the match the central districts are dangerous, later the whole city.

Pilots will find targets – bypasses, hills, edges of the forest belt, city blocks of loose buildings. Check forest patches around the city – a frequent place for ambushes.

Stalingrad

Stalingrad War Thunder

The winter location was built with buildings, factory shops, and oil storage tanks. Debris walls hide low-profile tanks. In realistic mode, players turn off the engine and wait for the enemy to pass.

The point behind the tanks is challenging to capture – the place is open. It is more profitable to hide military equipment nearby, firing at impatient players. It is more difficult for the blue team to storm the railroad; the rare shelters force them to act cautiously.

Aviation lacks targets – fighting machines hide hangars, buildings. The search for targets ends with a burning airplane.

Sinai

Sinai War Thunder

A deserted map covered with rocks and stunted bushes. The shelters dictate the combat style – take the right road, stop, listen to the sound of engines, and wait for the enemy to storm in. Local snipers guard passages. Revival points are protected by shooting rocks. Enemy ambushes control the flanks. Tactics – slowly knock out enemy ambushes, advance yard by yard to objectives, control respawns. There are three main directions – center section and flank detours.

Airplanes are recommended. Movement can be seen from afar; you can bomb from a height or cling to the ground, and the targets will be found. The main thing to remember is that there is air defense behind the rocks.

Advance to the Rhine

The remains of a German town were bombed to the state of ruins. Branching streets, alleys, and ruined buildings help to bypass the enemy from the flanks to meet near the points. The monument on the square is a dangerous place – constantly shelled; near the memorial, some nations fail the gunnery angles, and it is challenging to escape after capturing the point.

Advance to the Rhine War Thunder

The center of the map is famous for the city park. Shelters are weak, hills cover part of the tank, and bushes are rarely located. The park relies on speed, a low tank profile, and frontal solid armor.

The railroad consists of long runs. On the railroad tracks prevails speed and surprise.

The player himself will not want to take out a bomber – at speed, the targets are not visible, and a slow plane is quickly destroyed by Anti-aircraft vehicles.

Tunisia

Bright African desert covered with palm trees. Notable for the river, around the bridge, there are always strange battles. Meet tanks on the bridge, players in the lowlands, shot by barrage fire from the hills.

The streets of the fort are known for battles with shooting through buildings and corner ambushes.

Tunisia War Thunder

In the center, risky detours and positional warfare take place.

The map is pleasant for aircraft —targets are visible, and points of interest are recognizable from a distance. It provokes mock flights of squad helicopters with unguided missiles.

Poland

Dense forest, bright green fields, tiny European houses – typical Poland. The upper part of the map is filled with endless fields and a positional group of rocks; a small town marks the center; a lake and a group of stones on the shore highlight the lower part of the map.

Poland War Thunder

The main battles are urban, with individual skirmishes over the lake, coastal stones, a patch of woods, and sniper stones. Urban battles require checking every building and watching the flanks—the town is small. In the north, detours of the enemy point happen.

Aviation feels insecure. It eats the flanks and looks at the city from a height, but the forest is too dense, and enemy equipment is not visible. It is dangerous to linger over the city—the opponent will take Anti-aircraft vehicles.

Ash River

This is a popular forest map. To the south is a gorge, and Tank destroyers constantly stand between the rocks. Driving past them is deadly, and entrenching in the gorge with thin frontal armor is suicidal.

The center of the map is full of battles—snipers occupy the heights, light tanks skip through the lowlands, and flanks are bitten. The local bridge is sometimes called “the bridge of death”—going up there is a bad idea.

Ash River War Thunder

To the south is a detour, hills, and rocks, partially shot through the center. In popular places, light tanks try to bypass the enemy in the first minutes of the battle.

Aviation feels free, with open positions. The enemy is visible, except for clusters of rocks and trees. Beware of enemy respawn—the enemy will prepare a missile with your name on it.

This is the end of the list of the best War Thunder maps in 2024 – good luck in battles!
