World of Warships is constantly changing and being updated; new locations, ships, and missions appear, so the application requires regular updates.
If you don’t download new content in time, the application will stop launching and display a message about an out-of-date version.

Don't forget to redeem World of Warships codes to get bonuses in the game. They come in two types: invite codes for new players and bonus codes for veterans. If you have any difficulties, use the instructions about registration with bonuses in World of Warships.
But if you’re in the mood for something different, we also have World of Tanks codes.

Check the World of Warships Catalog in the Wargaming Client
If the game files have been moved or the directory has been renamed, Game Center may not know about it, and the game is not installed.
To fix such an error, you will need to:
- Log in to your Wargaming account, select World of Warships, and click “Install a new instance,” after which you must choose a folder for installation.
- As the target directory, you must specify the renamed folder or where the transferred files are located.
- After that, the Launcher will start the installation, detecting existing files and updating their status.
- Then, the game can be launched and updated.
Checking Game Files on Steam
If the WoWs client is installed via Steam, then you need to use the built-in file recovery function:
- open the application library in Steam;
- click on the World of Warships shortcut, select “Properties”;
- go to the “Local Files” tab, click on the item “Verify integrity of game files”;
- wait for the content to be verified and restored.
Failed to Connect to the Update Service
If the message about failure to connect to the update service is displayed, you need to successively:
- Perform the failed operation again.
- Check if there is an Internet connection and restart it.
- Close the Game Center, delete the updates folder from the game directory, and launch WGC. Resume updates.
- Disable antivirus and firewall on your computer and network equipment.
- Reset Windows network services settings.
- Repeat the operation after some time.
- Perform a complete cancel installation/upgrade, uninstall, and reinstall the problematic client.
The operations should be performed sequentially, after each attempt to update, and if nothing helped, then form an appeal to the Support Center.
Firewall Settings
New software can change system settings, so you will need to:
- Go to Windows Firewall and click “Allow an application or feature through Windows Firewall”;
- Select Change Settings and check the Private and Public checkboxes for World of Warships.
Clearing the DNS Cache
Sometimes, your ISP may make changes to the default DNS servers that cause the DNS cache to point to the wrong address, and you will need to clear the DNS cache to fix this:
- Go to the command prompt by opening the Start menu and typing “cmd” as a search query;
- Type “ipconfig /registerdns”
- After the operation, you should see the following notification: “Successfully cleared DNS resolver cache.”
- Restart the computer.
If the above methods did not help, you should contact the support service with a description of the problem.
