Line of Light Tanks

Only two types of vehicles, the first and second tier, are realized in Italy’s light vehicles branch. They are needed for initial advancement in this direction and serve on the skirmish field as fireflies, scouting the territory of the enemy team and illuminating the opponents for the allies.

M14/41

However, the latter should be treated selectively, as it will not be able to penetrate armored solid vehicles.

The M15/42 went into production in 1943. Nazi Germany requisitioned many armored vehicles to fight in former Yugoslavia.

All slots can be upgraded with more advanced modules, from the gun to the radio station.

The M15/42 is considered versatile by the community. It can be used for various purposes and fired at almost any range.

The only drawbacks are the low flight speed of the shaped charge projectile and the short range of radio communications. While the first disadvantage can be compensated by experience, the second is more critical, as it complicates communication with the team at long distances.

P26/40

This is the MT of the fourth class, represented in the tree of armored vehicles in this country. Its development was underway as early as the beginning of 1940, but production became feasible only a few years later due to technical capabilities.

The reviewed unit can be upgraded with additional modules in all slots in addition to the stock modules. The list of available tracks, engines, and guns includes two varieties. Many components are also available in the research branch for the following versions.

Although it has impressive military parameters, it does not boast armor and HP, so people must adhere to covert tactics, work on intelligence from allies, and avoid open confrontation with other players.

P.43

The following Italian MT was the P.43, which survived in history only as a wooden mockup project. Although production was not established, and it was not used in real battles, it was added to WoT as a full-fledged vehicle with good combat effectiveness.

Two more advanced versions built on its base were not released in reality but were added to the project. We will consider them in more detail in separate sections of the article.

Progetto M40 mod. 65

It was a worthy standard MT of the country in question. It was based on the advantages of several German, British, and Soviet counterparts simultaneously to create the most maneuverable, armored, and powerful machine. But, as before, the project was never completed.

It uses light protection, but thanks to the design with cut or rounded corners, the probability of penetration is significantly reduced.

Thanks to its versatility, the unit can be used both at long range from a secluded location and in the center of the battle, actively maneuvering between opponents and rapidly eliminating them.

Drum gun allows you to quickly inflict heavy damage, but it is important to take into account the long reloading after that, so it is recommended to save shells and shoot all at once only being sure in the destruction of the opponent.

Line of Heavy Tanks

There are only four variants in the heavy tanks section of Italy, which are purchasable for silver and research points. The first one is only unlocked on the seventh tier.

Carro d’assalto P.88

The initial multi-ton military unit is not particularly popular due to its unbalanced characteristics and difficulty in skirmishes. However, it still has the advantages of effectively fighting at close range, breaking through enemy lines, and ramming LTs and STs.

Progetto CC55 mod. 54

Captain Quinzio developed the next Italian project, planning to build a whole division of heavily armored multi-ton vehicles with excellent penetration power. From these principles came an idea that was never realized.

In the video game, it was not the most effective armored tank VIII range, and it did not find popularity. Most exploit it only as an intermediate to unlock more optimal types in the state tree.

But this is where the list of advantages ends: the device turns very slowly, takes a long time to reload and has a poor viewing angle, and the damage cannot be called sufficient for pleasant results on the battlefield.

Progetto C50 mod. 66

This is a mediocre variant of the ninth tier, inferior to several representatives of the same category. General Vittorio La Rosa had the idea to create it back in 1966. It was planned to replace the M60A1 used by local troops then, but it never happened.

Literally, in all its directions, some disadvantages complicate the conduct of a clash:

• There is an autoloader mechanism and excellent accuracy, but the damage inflicted is too low;
• not an insufficient safety margin, but the armor leaves much to be desired, although it has angles that prevent opponents from penetrating it even on armored vehicles of higher ranks;
• fast movement speed, but insufficient dynamics in general.

Taking into account all the advantages and disadvantages, the optimal solution is to use this armored vehicle at a small, but not too close distance with the fence. Going into direct confrontation with the enemy can be a fatal mistake.

Rinoceronte

Finally, a superb heavy machine of this nation is presented in the game. It features an uninhabited turret, as many countries were developing similar prototypes in the 60s and 70s of that century, the trend did not pass Italy by.

Although the Rinoceronte is much more effective than the previous models, experienced gamers still do not recommend assigning it as the primary weapon and throwing all their efforts into its upgrade. Also, its specifics make it more suited to urban rather than terrain maps.

Despite its heaviness, it has almost no problems with its essential characteristics: destructive power, armor penetration, and even dynamics. At the same time, compared to other heavyweights, it is small and plays into the hands of the crew.

But many note the insufficient safety margin, which creates problems when colliding with other heavyweights. Also, even with the drum refill system, it is too slow to fire, although it has a high penetration rate.

Tank Destroyers Line

An artillery lineup of Italian vehicles with six versions, not counting one premium version. It opens upon reaching rank five.

Semovente M41

SMV CC-56

Next in line is a much more prominent development of the VII range, which does not need a secluded spot on the edge of the map. It can be operated directly on the central line of fire. However, hiding the hull behind terrain or rocks is still necessary, as it is not distinguished by impressive armor, unlike the turret, which is almost impossible to penetrate.

Let’s consider the list of advantages and disadvantages of the SMV CC-56:

Pros:

• high tower strength;
• good head angle for the category;
• impressive XP, not inferior to some heavy vehicles;
• stabilization;

Cons:

• significant hull penetration;
• slow;
• low armor penetration for Tank Destroyers;
• when using the top gun, you have to wait too long between shots, which makes it difficult to fight at a short distance.

SMV CC-67

The SMV CC-67 does not differ much from its predecessor. The prototype was developed in the country in question with the participation of partners from Western Europe closer to the early 1970s.

Notably, all the modules that can be placed on this unit are achieved in advance while still riding on the SMV CC-56. When this armored vehicle is unlocked, you must transfer them and ride into the collision.

It is recommended to play from the turret, as this is the strongest place. The rest of the hull should be hidden behind the fence, otherwise very soon you will have to go to the hangar.

Controcarro 1 Mk. 2

This is an Italian Tank destroyer of rank IX, which differs little from the full-fledged armored vehicles in this game. In real life, the company “OTO Melara” was responsible for its production, using the best aspects of German and British models as a basis and an unusual charging mechanism borrowed from ship cannons.

Controcarro 3 Minotauro

The outermost standard model in the whole tree remains the X range unit, fully justifying its name. It was developed by the same large company, OTO Melara, and this time, it was based on the outstanding developments in Germany and the USA.

The Minotaur is less armored than the previous version but has even more destructive power. It can also be used in the main line, but sufficient attention should be paid to camouflage and concealment. If the enemy can reach the side, the armor will quickly penetrate.

Pros:

• persistent protection of individual elements;
• drum cannon with rapid reloading and five rounds;
• only a couple of vulnerable areas, not counting the side;
• the high velocity of the flight of shots.

Cons:

• poor side armor;
• insufficient maneuverability;
• scatter at long ranges, so only close range is recommended;
