The WoT multiplayer action system is divided into groups by region. So, residents of certain countries or large territories are tied to them and get to players in approximately the exact location. However, many users are interested in how to change the server and whether it is possible. Let’s consider the procedure and its features in more detail.

When You May Need to Change the Server in WoT
First of all, World of Tanks is a team game that requires players to maximize interaction in the collective. Therefore, it is advisable to be on a server with its language to understand your teammates, coordinate them, and get helpful information during the battle.
Also, playing in a region far away from the player can negatively affect the stability of the connection, so it is best to be on the nearest available server.
Is it Possible to Change the Server in World of Tanks Now
As of now, the Launcher does not allow switching to another server. The developers also prohibit changing platforms (PC, console, mobile) and transferring game progress, in-game currency, and property between them.
Therefore, if a player is already registered and tied to one server, the only option for changing it is to create a new account.
Changing WoT Region in Steam
The situation is more loyal for Steam users – although unofficially, the ability to change the server without a new registration is provided. It can be done using internal tools, such as the Launcher. It is necessary to perform the following actions consistently:
- Complete the Steam process on your computer.
- Select and copy the link corresponding to the region to which you plan to move:
- Asia – steam://install/1407610
- Europe – steam://install/1407600
- North America – steam://install/1407590
- Russia – steam://install/1407580
- Paste the copied item into your browser’s address bar and press Enter.
- Wait for the Steam client to start and install the selected distribution.
- Go to the client settings from the library of installed games.
- Open the DLC panel in the “Properties” menu.
- Check the box next to the desired server.
To avoid conflicts and errors, it is recommended to delete the files of the server that will no longer be used:
- Click on the WoT shortcut in the Steam game library and go to the view of the local file, as shown in the image below.
- Irrevocably delete the folder with the name of the defunct server.
Creating an Account in a New Region with Bonuses
In the first half of 2025, there is only one way to change the WoT server in the Launcher – register an account with the corresponding location. Note: when you create an account, you can get great bonuses!

It is worth considering that in certain regions, the usual methods of payment for transactions are not available. Therefore, if you choose the wrong server, in-game purchases may not be available, although, to date, there are unofficial ways of such replenishments.
Will the Transfer Function be Available in the Future
It is not yet known whether the developers from Wargaming plan to change the server change policy for regular players. There were no official statements about this, and there were no unofficial preconditions. Therefore, if unlocking the function is possible, we should not expect it shortly.
