Killing Vagant is mandatory to progress through the game. It is a quest that involves a battle with a unique, difficult boss — a mutant with strong skills.
The Vagant is an enhanced version of the bloodsucker that attacks with ultrasound. Mutants are also more active than similar mobs to break the distance from the player. I have prepared a small guide to the task for you.
Don't forget to redeem Stalcraft promo codes to get bonuses in the game.
But if you’re in the mood for something different, we also have War Thunder codes.
Where is the Lair of Vagant: Parkour and a Couple of Secret Mini-quests on the Way
The quest starts when the Shaman sends the player to find an ally to confront the Warriors and Sanitarians. You can choose any ally, but the reward at the end depends on it.
During the search, the player will go inside a lair marked on the map. First, you need to go straight ahead. From the road sign “Attention” turn to the right. There is a beam there. On it is necessary to crawl into the depths:
You must move lying down. Keep the course to the left side:
Moving on:
Checking the screenshot:
At the end, there will be a hill that you need to grab. Here, the enhanced jump will help: it should be done from the very edge of the abyss. At the end of the jump, the player must simultaneously press Q+W:
After, you need to go to the right corner – along the wall, then you will see a destroyed bridge. It is not necessary to jump over it. On the contrary, you need to fall down into the Chimera’s lair. There will be a difficult fight. But it’s just a warm-up – it’s more difficult. In any case, after killing the Chimera, the player will find in the lair corpse scientist. There is a note on it. From it it becomes clear that Vagant was bred artificially in the laboratory – the whole thing was some kind of experiment.
Back in the Bar, the player meets another scientist. He has been looking for a missing colleague for some time – the same one we found earlier in the Chimera’s lair.
We tell him about what happened and get the Circle Trinket as a reward:
This is one of the secret mini-quests on the way to Vagant’s lair. There is also a second one related to the search for the dead Sanitarist’s stash. It is impossible to miss the cache – the player will stumble upon it when searching for the boss. But you can’t open it without the code.
The code is as follows: 5-8-1-1-2-1-1-2-8-8-7
The way to the bloodsucker is through the hole behind the rock:
It is necessary to crawl through it to the end. Until the lamp appears:
Following it, in the depths, is the Sanitarium cache. In it, the player will find:
Killing Vagant in Stalcraft: Strategies
While stalking the player, Vagant will periodically stop to perform an ultrasonic AoE attack. It is difficult to dodge – sometimes even on the verge of being possible. Therefore, we will assume that the player will take damage. In this scenario, he should use the first aid kit (they should be stocked in general – it is better to have at least 5-10 pieces), turn around and shoot the enemy with a shotgun, and then continue to run away. Repeat until the bloodsucker is destroyed.
By the way, a direct hit from the shotgun stuns Vagant, opening a window to deal damage.
Other tactics allow you to kill the monster relatively easily, even with medium-strength gear. It’s about jump spamming: just jump aside every time the Vagant starts attacking. If timed correctly, it will miss 90% of the time.
And a little tidbit in the background (which is considered a bug in the community): if you jump up during the “scream” of the monster (an ability that deals ultrasonic damage), you can avoid damage with a high probability while getting almost no stun effect.
As for armor and weapons, it’s better to get a Worsa protective suit. Protective plates won’t help: the boss deals damage that goes through their defense. From weapons, a good choice will be a Mossberg 590A1 pump-action shotgun.
If there is no way to get a strong shotgun, you can try a machine gun. But it will be slower, as they lack a damage multiplier on mutants. Machine guns have also been degraded – now they do not increase damage when continuously firing at a target.
Quest Completion and Reward
The quest is given to Muller (or Davydov or another NPC – depending on the faction). He needs to bring the head of the defeated monster. It’s enough to have it in the inventory; the necessary option in the dialog will appear by itself, and when you press it, the quest will be completed.
By the way, a common bug is when the NPC who needs to pass the quest, despite the presence of the head in the inventory, still does not see it. In such cases, it helps restart the game. In extreme cases – check the integrity of local files. In even more extreme cases – clean reinstallation.
As for awards, their list is the same for all factions:
Except for the rifle. It varies depending on the chosen faction. The characteristics are similar, so you can choose even based on the design.
