“The Mercenaries are a highly organized paramilitary group consisting of:
- former PMC operators;
- members of special operations units;
- professional military contractors.
Their appearance in the Exclusion Zone dates back to the period after a catastrophic incident on the territory of the former USSR, which resulted in the formation of an abnormal territory with unexplained physical phenomena.
Operational activities are focused on executing high-paying contracts from private customers and scientific structures. Specialization covers a wide range of tasks, from surveillance of anomalous zones and retrieval of rare artifacts to law enforcement and security operations.

The Quest to Become a Mercenary
The opportunity to join the Mercenaries will open after completing the main storyline, “The Call.” The PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) will immediately receive a notification about the recruitment process in the organization “in connection with the strengthening of expansion to the north.”
The only requirement: after completing the initial training, you need to choose the side of bandits, not stalkers.
It would be best if you met a recruiter named Gray – he is sitting in the Bar (factory “Pervomaysky”) on the lower floor at the entrance to the faction base. During the conversation, a short “aptitude test” will begin. If you were previously a member of a hostile faction, you will be asked to pay a fine for the transition.
After enrolling in the faction, you will be sent to the base, where you will be given the main story mission.
Benefits of Joining the Mercenaries
Players who join the ranks of mercenaries get access to unique mission chains, equipment, and territory – which is not available to representatives of other associations.
The mercenary arsenal includes two unique pieces of equipment:
- The RS-124 “Reitar” super-heavy armored suit [class: combat];
- Armored RS-72 “Punisher” [class: combined].
The bandits control the following locations:
- Agrocomplex Kolos;
- The Pit;
- Dead City;
- The Path of Fools.
The area of these locations is much larger when compared to the area of influence of stalkers, which is better in terms of resource extraction.

“The Covenant is a community with an emphasis on mysticism and supernatural purposes. Its supporters are pseudo-religious fanatics who define the Zone as the intersection of two worlds – the living and the dead. They use artifacts for mystical rituals, believing them to be material embodiments of the power of the Deity (due to effects that improve/deteriorate human abilities). The primary purpose of existence is to keep the Zone safe from outside interference.
Mercenaries, on the other hand, are pragmatic, materialistic, and unemotional people. They are focused solely on profit and the efficient execution of operations, without belief in mysticism.
Mercenaries armor and weapons are oriented towards mobility and flexibility, while Covenant equipment is more resistant to abnormal environments and suitable for an aggressive fighting style.
