The secret quest “Echoes of the Past” in Stalcraft is a short-lived series of missions related to finding and cracking an encrypted PDA. The storyline begins with the player discovering a hidden PDA in a backpack belonging to a confident “Beard”.

What is a PDA?
A PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) is a portable electronic device designed to collect, process, and store data and perform auxiliary computing operations. It is used by stalkers to coordinate actions, exchange information, and navigate within the game zone. The PDA allows you to record the number of stalkers and other subjects within a radius of up to 55 meters.

Task 1: The Mysterious PDA
The first task requires finding a geocache; depending on the chosen faction, its point is different:
- Stalkers: PDA lies in the location of the Swamps #14;
- Bandits: the stash is located in the Swamps #9.
After taking the device, you need to take it to the technician:
- Stalkers have a specialist – Sharashkin, located in the location “Ataman’s Stavka #1”;
- The bandits have a similar specialist – the Punisher, who can be found at “Boat Station #1”.
Task 2: Hacker
The second objective is to perform a hack, that is, decode an encrypted DA by performing programmed operations on a laptop connected to the device. This requires a precise sequence of command input corresponding to each faction separately.
Approach the laptop located next to the tech. Connect the PDA to it and run software that supports the key brute force method for decrypting data.

Follow the mark and look for the stash: the stalkers will have it under the bridge and the bandits – somewhere in the bushes. Take the trophies: PP-2000 “Anchor” along with other things.
The PP-2000 “Anchor” is an exclusive submachine gun designed for close combat. It is characterized by its compactness and high rate of fire.
