Freedom and Duty are the most elaborate factions not only in Stalcraft but in the entire Stalker universe. Veterans of the universe remember these factions from the first part of the series, most of the plot of which was based on the confrontation between Freedom and Duty. These factions were also present in all official and even fan addons.
What is better – “Freedom” or “Duty”?
There is no unambiguous answer to this question. Each faction is committed to its system of values, which it promotes among its supporters. However, players are more interested in bonuses and equipment that become available upon joining and locations that become available for farming.

Ideology of Freedom

In Freedom, there is no schedule, dry law, or subordination. The only rules of the group are to help their comrades and kill supporters of the Long as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
Supporters of Freedom believe that the Zone cannot be subjugated but must learn to live by its laws. According to the faction, the Zone should be open to everyone, and the power should be taken away from the military and given to the people. Freedom also supports the research of the Zone but does not consider it a priority.
Ideology of the Duty
Duty is the exact opposite of Freedom. It is a paramilitary group based on strict adherence to the rules. The goal of the Duty is to contain and subsequently destroy the Zone and all mutants. The leadership of the Duty cooperates with the military and the government. This is the only faction that deals with the targeted destruction of mutants and the protection of scientists.
Pros and cons of joining Freedom
The main advantage of the faction is its large number of members. The fact is that PVP between members of the same faction on medium and low-level locations is disabled, but no one forbids killing supporters of the opposing faction. Freedom numerically outnumbers Duty on most servers to such an extent that it becomes impossible for supporters of Duty to play.
But the advantages don’t end there. By joining Freedom, a player gets the following nice bonuses:
- 12% bonus on resource drops.
- A unique set of armor.
- Convenient movement through underground tunnels.
- Calm farming of the north.
The faction also did not do without the disadvantages. The main disadvantage is that members of the Freedom are denied access to the armories and the dilemma. These are the locations of the Long, which are intended for use by this faction.
Another significant disadvantage is that supporters of the Dolg love to organize joint raids in the tunnels, through which the Svobodovtsy return from the north with the loot. Pros and cons of joining the Duty
Here, it’s simple: the cons of Freedom are the pros of Duty and vice versa.

How to join the Freedom in Stalcraft in 2025 year
For those who have decided to join the Freedom, here is a detailed guide to joining.
To begin with, let’s understand what can prevent you from joining Freedom. There are few restrictions, but for some players, they come as an unpleasant surprise. You cannot join Freedom if:
- You are a bandit. Freedom and Duty are factions for stalkers. Bandits choose between Covenant and Mercenaries. Stalker factions are not available to them.
- You have a low bar level. Access to joining factions is available when you reach level 7. Levels 1 through 3 can be gained directly in the bar, levels 3 through 5 in the forest, and levels 5 through 7 in army warehouses.
- You belong or have recently belonged to another faction. Leaving the Duty will not allow you to join Freedom immediately. A timer is placed on the player for several days.
Stalker of the seventh level gets access to the bar “100 X-rays”.
Once in the elite closed bar, it remains to find a merchant named Curie, from whom and ask if the factions are not currently recruiting new people.
Regardless of the chosen faction, Curie will start a chain of quests, during the fulfillment of which you will have to run around the entiZoneone. There are a total of 8 quests in the chain.
