Battles in World of Warships are conducted at a distance between ships, which can reach two dozen kilometers, which makes the result of shots from the main caliber guns or torpedo launchers challenging to distinguish.
The most damage is done to the citadel, engine room, or arsenal, which are usually deep inside the ship and require a calibrated scope to hit.

When this Function Can be Useful
Ammunition tracking can be helpful when you want to shoot at an enemy ship far away.
For example, the firing range of the main guns of line ships can be up to 20 kilometers, and it is impossible to see at such a distance where the projectile hits unless you use the tracking function.
Which Key is Used to Activate Tracking
There are two ways to activate the tracking of shells and torpedoes:
- When firing/launching – by clicking on the mouse wheel;
- Clicking the “Z” button (default value) for launched ammunition.
How to Change the Hotkey for Tracking Projectiles/Torpedoes
To reassign the keys to enable projectile/torpedo tracking at or after launch, you need to:
- Click on the gear icon in the upper left corner and select the “Settings” line in the open window.
- Going to the appropriate section, select the “Controls” tab, where a block allows you to find out which keys are defined for different functions and change them.
- Scroll through the contents of the block with control settings, find the settings of the corresponding functions, and set any convenient control keys or turn off the possibility of activation.
